Procurement Officer

I am recruiting an experienced Procurement Officer for a large manufacturing company based in Runcorn. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager you will be responsible for developing long-term improvements in Quality, Cost and Delivery performance whilst maintaining good customer-supplier relationships. Responsibilities :

  • Data Information Management for suppliers including lead-times, pricing, stock records and delivery dates.
  • Manage all supplier relationships and contracts, utilising other functions as appropriate.
  • Commercial negotiations and long-term cost planning based on external market trends.
  • Develop and deploy an integrated approach to a wide range of Purchasing-related cost reduction activities.
  • Develops and deploys a robust cost management system in conjunction with the Finance Team.
  • Quality performance in conjunction with the Quality departments.
  • Monthly communication to all indirect suppliers.
  • Quarterly reviews with key suppliers.
  • Minimise number of suppliers whilst maintaining cost control.
  • Work with Quality department to ensure appropriate quality systems and regular auditing is completed based on spend and risk.


  • Experience in a Supply Chain function
  • Experience in strategic planning.
  • Experience in Supplier Relationship Management.
  • Experienced user on an ERP system’s Supply Chain functionality.
  • Team Leader qualification e.g., CIPS or Degree qualified
  • MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, and other software as appropriate.

  • Customer focussed with a drive to complete tasks and keep all stakeholders informed of progress.
  • Good communicator with ability to persuade and inform colleagues both verbally and in writing.
  • Resilient with the ability to cope with unplanned demands and prioritise workload in line with changing demands.
  • Strong team-working skills with the ability to complete tasks on time.
  • Good attention to detail with a methodical approach to tasks to ensure compliance.
  • Ability to adhere to company policies and procedures and escalate where appropriate.
  • Ideally educated to degree level and also fully CIPS qualified (or qualified by experience )
  • Experience in a Materials Management or similar environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Driven, with a will to develop new skills and progress within the Company
  • Full driving licence
