Payroll Officer

I am currently recruiting for a Payroll Officer to join a very successful and growing business in Welshpool. You will support the Finance Director in a busy Head Office function and process a number of large, weekly payrolls.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Processing weekly payroll for over 200 staff in an accurate and timely manner
  • Dealing with payroll queries with Branch Managers
  • Recording holidays
  • Processing starters and leavers
  • Calculating holiday pay on overtime
  • Entering weekly payroll journals on accounts system
  • Processing and reconciliation of payroll deductions
  • Preparing the monthly pension report and any ad hoc reports as necessary
  • Year-end payroll reconciliation to trial balance

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Sage 50 payroll
  • IT literate in Microsoft packages such as Word, Outlook and Excel
  • A confident communicator by phone and email
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to work to deadlines
  • An effective problem solver
  • Previous accounts experience in a purchase ledger function is desirable
  • Previous experience on Sage Line 50/200 is an advantage
  • AAT/book keeping qualification is an advantage
