Management Accountant

This role will be based across a number of sites in Cheshire and North Wales and you must be able to travel between them

I am currently recruiting for a Management Accountant to join a very successful and growing business on the outskirts of Chester. Due to continued growth and internal promotion you will have an opportunity to operate across the finance function in an pacey, multi-site business and support the FC and FD across the piece.


  • Accurate and timely preparation of month-end management accounts
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, implementing stringent controls to regulate
  • Carry out in-depth variance analysis on all key P&L performance areas
  • Produce monthly board level commentary explaining underlying reasons for forecast variances
  • Identify and assess suitable treatment for excess / obsolete inventory
  • Maintenance of Fixed Asset register, alongside calculations supporting Capex business cases
  • Aid Accounts Assistants in day-to-day receivables and payables management, resolving queries
  • Periodic budgeting and forecasting management / input
  • Produce and collate weekly KPI information in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Business partnering across multiple departments, including but not limited to: Production; Operations; Planning; Procurement; Engineering; Technical
  • Periodic budgeting and forecasting responsibilities
  • Regular involvement with ad-hoc project work as required.
  • Data preparation, co-ordination and analysis for external stakeholders (Bank, Audit, HMRC, ONS, etc)
  • Lead implementation for new systems / processes
  • Provide holiday cover across the Finance function as the need arises

Qualifications and Experience:


  • ACCA/CIMA qualified, or part-qualified final stages. QBE accepted
  • Cost/Site Accountant background desirable
  • Advanced IT skills including intermediate Excel (pivots, look ups, formulas etc)
  • Experienced ERP user (Dynamics/Oracle/SAP or similar)
  • Commercially astute with strong business acumen
  • Detail-orientated and logical approach to problem solving
  • 100% commitment to providing meaningful and accurate management information at all times, supporting the development of the business
  • Energized, positive outlook in confronting challenges
  • Capable of reviewing and correcting own work and conduct sense check on reports.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Ability to work in a team and contribute to a positive outcome.
  • Competence in dealing with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven experience of developing successful working relationships across multiple departments.
  • Dedication to the role and the business exhibited through attendance and a willingness to take part in areas and projects outside the scope of the role.
