I currently have a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring Assistant Accountant to join an impressive and very successful business based just outside Chester (commutable from Nantwich, Whitchurch, Frodsham, Winsford). In this newly-created role of Group Assistant Financial Accountant you will report to the Finance Manager and work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to develop and drive best practice in group reporting. Within this fast-paced and highly acquisitive organisation there will be a major emphasis on creating relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate information flow. The primary focus of the role will be on the various aspects of financial accounting and is expected to expand with the growth of the Group including supporting:

  • Group consolidation processes
  • preliminary Group month end journals
  • CAPEX analysis reporting
  • Assisting with recent introduction of weekly group reporting (dashboard reporting to the Executive Team)
  • the production of the annual financial statements and the information pack for the statutory auditors
  • Supporting with ad hoc investigation and project tasks

Qualifications & Experience:

The ideal candidate will be a proactive, enthusiastic and logical individual with a keen interest in developing and utilising data analysis skills. The candidate will provide key support for senior leaders within the wider Group.

  • Hard working and flexible, with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Passion for working with data including the sourcing, transformation and modelling of data into useful information
  • Comfortable working individually and in teams, sharing knowledge and improvement ideas for the benefit of the Group and its staff
  • Questioning and enquiring approach with a real desire to seek out new methods that will allow more efficient provision of accurate financial data
  • Proficient in using IT, including Microsoft Office and accounts software
  • Excel is a key management information tool, a sound knowledge of spreadsheet writing and data analysis would be beneficial but not essential as internal training will be provided
  • Experience in accounts preparation including journals, fixed assets, cash flow etc
  • SAP knowledge would be advantageous but is not essential
