Credit Control and Reconciliations Clerk

Heyland Recruitment are working exclusively with this instantly recognisable logistics company as they look to recruit an experienced Credit Control & Reconciliations Clerk to join their busy and growing Credit Control function. The successful candidate will take responsibility for cash balancing, credit control, monitoring credit risk assessment criteria and completing standard and ad hoc departmental reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete daily analysis of receipts and allocations
  • Keep monthly bank reconciliation up to date
  • To understand the direct debit process and to assist in that process when required
  • Create and maintain credit risk management environment of an acceptable quality.
  • Check customers credit rating with credit rating agencies
  • Research and understand financial reports
  • Forward all relevant information to the Credit Control Manager (CCM) to enable a fully informed decision on whether to offer credit and how much
  • Updating and monitoring the risk analysis of the customer database
  • Identify problem accounts and report to the CCM
  • Start legal action to recover debts if necessary as in conjunction with approval from the CCM
  • In insolvency or bankruptcy cases liaising with other creditors to ensure the best possible outcome
  • Research and make decisions on finance charges in conjunction with approval from the CCM
  • Update processes and procedures for evaluating customer financials and setting and changing credit limits
  • Ensure that all month end and Ad Hoc reports are accurate and completed in line with company procedures
  • Liaise with various internal departments as deemed necessary
  • To attend ad hoc meetings both internal and external where deemed

Required Skills / Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience within a busy office environment
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills
  • Excellent negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Detailed knowledge of the legal process in collection of delinquent debts
  • Advanced Microsoft office skills
  • Can work well both alone or as part of a team
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
