EY Boosted By North West Success

EY's North West transaction advisory services and transactions law teams have been boosted by a "fantastic year" after advising on £3.5bn worth of deals and recruiting more than 15 staff.

Highlights from the host of deals the firm worked on include ECI's investment in Moneypenny and Inflexion backing Mountain Warehouse and UKFast.

Other completed deals include LDC's investment in Love Energy Savings, the sale of Perstorp to Ingevity, Damovo being bought by Eli Global and two acquisitions for Manchester Airports Group.

The North West Transactions Advisory Services and Transactions Law teams also recruited 17 staff in 2018 and made "significant investments" in senior talent, including the promotions of Edward Gale, Steven Kingham and Rob Warren to director.

Richard Harding, partner and head of transaction services for EY in the North, said: "2018 was another fantastic year for our North West transactions team. The local M&A market remains buoyant, and there are high levels of competition for quality businesses from both corporate and PE investors. This has driven strong deal activity and we expect this to continue in 2019.

"The promotion of Edward and Steven underlines our continued investment in growing our team. We have a real focus on developing our people and it's pleasing to see them progress through the firm to senior roles. They have already made a huge contribution to their clients and we look forward to helping them develop further in the future."

Richard Thomas, partner in EY Law in Manchester, added: "2018 was a busy year for our team of transaction lawyers, who worked on a broad range of transactions, while Rob's promotion to director will further enhance our senior capability in law.

"While there are some uncertainties in the market driven by Brexit, so far 2019 activity levels remain high for our team and we are looking forward to another strong year.
