Payroll Coordinator

I am currently recruiting for a Payroll Coordinator to join a large and very successful business near Chester. In this newly created role you play a key role in delivering end to end payroll for up to 2000 staff. Duties will include:

  • Support the Payroll Manager to deliver an effective and efficient payroll function
  • Cover all aspects of payroll, Kronos time & attendance system, HMRC reporting compliance and provision of management information
  • Produce a range of management information, including costings reports, overtime, absence data and staff turnover.
  • Assist in ensuring HMRC compliance in respect of deduction and payment of Income Tax, National Insurance and other statutory amounts. Provide accurate and timely reporting under Real Time Information and provision of P45 and P60 information to employees
  • Effectively supervise the team of payroll administrators, offering guidance and direction to enhance the payroll process, helping to mitigate risk and minimising the occurrence of error and ensuring the team’s business continuity in the event of staff absence
  • Reconcile payroll balance sheet accounts, including PAYE/NIC, Net Pay, Union deductions, Pension Contributions, AEO, CSA, and salary sacrifice.
  • Ensure timely deduction and upload of pension contributions and new joiner data to the scheme provider, and support the ongoing compliance with pension auto-enrolment obligations across the business.
  • Provide ad-hoc reports and support project tasks as required by various company functions, including the Payroll Manager, Financial Controller and Human Resources.
  • Raise any issues that may be of relevance to the Human Resources and Finance teams to promote joined up processes to the benefit of the overall business.

 

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • CIPP Qualified, studying or QBE
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and accounts and payroll software
  • Demonstrable experience in payroll preparation including PAYE/NIC, pension deductions as well as statutory payments such as SMP, SAP, SPP, SSP
  • Excel is a key management information tool for the business, so a sound knowledge of spreadsheet writing and analysis of data is essential. Ability to develop pivot and lookup functions is desirable
  • Experience in using the Kronos time and attendance system would be an advantage
