Accounts Payable Clerk

I am currently recruiting for my client who is based in Nantwich. They are looking to recruit a permanent accounts payable clerk to join the AP team. This company are very well established and can offer job security. This position would suit someone with previous accounts payable / purchase ledger experience and looking for their next long term position.


Job Purpose

Responsibility for processing of invoices to payments, ensuring that ledgers are reconciled and up to date whilst maintaining process controls.


Suppliers & Invoices

  • Processing of Purchase Invoices and matching Goods Receipts Notes to Invoices for bulk suppliers, hauliers and third party suppliers
  • Ensure invoices are approved on time to meet established payment cycle
  • Supplier Statement reconciliations completed as per the month end timetable, including investigating any discrepancies with the supplier
  • Dealing with supplier queries


Payments & Ledgers

  • Allocation of payments against invoices on supplier accounts
  • Maintaining own area of the Purchase Ledger including clearance of ageing items



  • Liaising with depots on any Purchase invoice or payment queries
  • Liaise with depots on aged Purchase Orders



  • To undertake any other reasonable request as directed by team leader and provide cover within team 


Problem Solving

  • Investigating any ageing items on the aged creditors reporting and ensuring no debit balances
  • Investigating any unmatched GRNI for bulk suppliers and miscellaneous stocks suppliers

  • Ensure a consistent approach is provided across all areas of the business to deliver and measure performance.

  • Studying AAT or equivalent
