Purchase Ledger Manager

Our client, a market leading, large global business based just outside the Warrington area is looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Payable Manager on a 6-12 month basis. Reporting to the Financial Controller and managing a team of 7 accounts payable clerks, the Purchase Ledger manager will review processes within the whole Purchase to Pay cycle recommending and implementing process improvements.


Main responsibilities will include;

  • Enhance processes within the AP department to facilitate the P2P process
  • Drive efficiencies and introduce automation where possible to improve the process
  • Assist in the training and ongoing support of all AP staff in the new system
  • Managing a team of 7 to ensure that overhead invoices are processed and paid to terms (7,500 per month)
  • Creating KPIs and embedding them within the department
  • Responsible for all overhead pay runs (2 a week) and liaising with Treasury to ensure payments leave the bank
  • Review the various statuses of purchase orders and manage the communication to have the order to goods receipt processed in a timely manner
  • Manage the key suppliers including the relationship with internal stakeholders
  • Ensure employee expenses are processed and paid on a weekly basis
  • Assist in ad hoc reporting and analysis
  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement within all aspects of the role


Experienced required;

  • Strong experience in Accounts Payable (ideally in a multi-site operation operating a 3 way match P2P system)
  • Able to influence and empower people as well as making decisions.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned Purchase Ledger professional with experience of working within a large complex organisation, dealing with high volume invoices.  You will have prior experience of dealing with new systems, improving existing processes whilst managing a team.
