Following recent PE backing, Heyland Recruitment have recently been engaged exclusively by our client, a global, multi-faceted technical service organisation in the Cheshire area, as they look to appoint a technically competent, qualified Senior Financial Accountant as part of a recent restructure.


As the business enters a significant period of transition, the Senior Financial Accountant will cover all aspects of financial accounting, financial reporting, corporation tax analysis and VAT compliance.  You will have full exposure to all areas of the business, liaising with the wider finance function and senior management executives.


The responsibilities of the role will include:


  • Preparation of UK&I statutory financial reporting under FRS101 (IFRS) and management of the audit process to ensure accounts are filed within deadlines.
  • Providing support during the audit of UK entities as part of any group level reporting.
  • Supporting the month-end close process for the UK companies, including preparation and review of journals and maintenance of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparation and submission of HMRC returns for VAT, CIS and employment tax related returns
  • Work alongside the management and project accounting teams, providing appropriate financial information and accounting advice for new and existing initiatives.
  • Ad hoc project assignments across the wider UK business


Minimum requirements


  • Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • Experienced accountant in practice (Mid-Tier/ multi office experience preferred) or equivalent gained in industry
  • Experience of statutory reporting and technical experience across a range of accounting topics under FRS101
  • Familiarity with the UK corporation tax regime and understanding of the related compliance aspects, including group relief
  • Knowledge and involvement in preparation and submission of other HMRC returns
  • Experience of control environment in a large international organisation.
  • A practical and pragmatic approach to finding a solution which meets the needs of the business as well as complying with required tax or accounting regulations
  • Strong inter-personal skills combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills essential
  • Pro-active, resourceful, hands on and capable of working independently as well as part of a team
