Heyland Finance are pleased to be working exclusively with a growing specialist lending business based in Chester who are currently looking to attract a high calibre Credit Manager into the team. The role reports directly into the Operations Director & is responsible for shaping the direction & strategy of the Credit Team. High-profile in nature the role will be responsible for helping set a measurable risk appetite for the business in the process developing, implementing the credit policy in line with the risk appetite of the business.

 

Specific duties & responsibilities include:

  • Define & develop a measurable metric that articulates the risk appetite of the business
  • Monitoring the performance of credit decision against the risk appetite and escalate any issues appropriately
  • Annual review Risk appetite & gain appropriate approval
  • Explore, develop and recommend the use of new data and insights in the credit policy and processes
  • Continuously review & improve the policies and processes to ensure that they remain relevant and appropriate based on emerging trends and the changing industry & economic environment
  • Organise & Chair all Credit Committee meetings, ensuring all decisions and action are documented & implemented
  • End to end ownership of the credit decision process, ensuring that is it fit for purpose, followed by all and gaps and improvements are highlighted and addressed
  • Develop and gain approval of appropriate SLA’s for the team and manage them against them to ensure that all credit decisions are processed in a timely fashion
  • Ensure that the quality of decisions and documentation meets the high expectations of the business via regular QA and feedback to team members
  • Help with the hiring, training, developing and mentoring of staff within the Credit Decisioning team and the wider operations function
  • Support cross functional and cross company projects where required, through individual contribution and delegation within team

 

Person requirement:

  • Team management & leadership experience (2 years+)
  • Experience and detailed understanding of Credit Reference Agency data and alternative data sources with regards to their use in credit decisioning and account management activity
  • Proven track record working with statistical risk scorecards and understanding of statistical model building, model degradation and variable level reporting
  • Sound knowledge Business to Business lending & asset back credit products
  • Proven track record of being able to communicate and influence at all levels across the business
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and similar applications
  • Ability to prioritise not only individual but also team’s workload with a fast paced changing business environment.
