Purchase Ledger Manager

I am currently recruiting for a Purchase Ledger Manager to join a well-known and exciting business in Crewe. Working closely with the Financial Controller you will own a busy purchase ledger function in a pacey business.


Responsibilities and duties:

  • Lead the Purchase Ledger team, ensuring that all direct reports understand their roles and accountabilities
  • Support the teams ongoing development needs to ensure they are able to operate effectively and deliver high performance
  • Responsible for delivering accurately and on time all activities in Accounts Payable
  • Ensure processes and procedures are in place and followed and review these for continual improvement to ensure efficient ways of working
  • Provide accurate purchase ledger records in support of the monthly and year end processes, including ensuring the accuracy of supplier balances in the accounting records
  • Ensure all suppliers are paid accurately and on time, maintaining the Company’s strong credit scoring and providing excellent customer service
  • Develop and report on AP metrics including exception processing, accuracy, timeliness and customer satisfaction and drive improvement
  • Provide hands on support to the team to ensure all deadlines are reached
  • Support the Finance team with the reconciliation of intercompany accounts
  • Ensure queries are properly investigated and corrective action taken
  • Help to identify and implement JDE process improvements and system fixes
  • Work closely with our Distribution team to ensure that all HMRC paperwork in relation to our bonded warehouse is posted accurately and duty payments are processed correctly
  • Help to produce and verify the Company’s quarterly VAT returns
  • Produce quarterly Intrastat analysis and submissions
  • Manage sales invoice processing ensuring invoices are raised correctly
  • Chase unpaid franchisee debts where DD’s have failed
  • Assess the financial viability of new Franchisees providing clear recommendations to the business
  • To ensure confidential storage of financial documentation, including filing and archiving
