My client, a fast growing business based in Wrexham is currently looking to appoint a Financial Controller to work alongside the senior management team to ensure that the company finances are accurately reported and to aid strategic decision making.

 

The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing all areas of the finance function and the control of all financial aspects of the business, driving cost control improvements and providing valuable information and insight to support the business decision making process.  

 

This will be will be a hands-on role leading a small finance team whilst also delivering strategic financial planning to support strategic growth plans.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Management and development of a small team
  • Oversee the production of timely and accurate financial information
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company’s accounting records and financial systems, ensuring that returns for Corporation tax, VAT and all other relevant compliance requirements are submitted, as well as overseeing monthly processing of payroll, supplier payments and credit control
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Maintain, enhance and document systems and procedures
  • Review management accounts against forecast, interpret and present findings and work with the management team to formulate strategic and long term business plans
  • Analysis of financial data and sales to identify issues, take corrective actions and identify opportunities for business improvement
  • Management of the companies cash requirements including frequent forecasting, tracking; managing short and long term borrowings
  • Working with the management and sales team in producing a realistic annual budget that is trend based; ad hoc forecasts
  • Prepare Year end Audit file for submission to third party accountants
  • Ad hoc reporting for the management team
  • Principal point of contact with banks, auditors, lawyers and advisors
  • HR function; a working knowledge of company, employment & contract law would be advantageous

 

Candidate Profile

  • It is essential that applicants are CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified with team management experience and strong IT literacy (word, excel and data manipulation)
  • Candidates must be familiar with managing multiple stakeholders and be able to demonstrate the skills to support a business through a period of significant development and growth
  • As a dynamic team player you will be required to recommend changes that will improve the company's financial performance, financial controls and cash flow to maximise marginal gains in the business
  • You must have the ability to manage your own workload, diligence and attention to detail as well as a pragmatic approach and the skill to prioritise effectively to meet tight reporting deadlines
