Accounts Assistant

I am currently recruiting for my well established client based in Chester, there is a need to bring on an Accounts Assistant due to growth. This role would suit someone looking to progress within a company and has an appetite to develop skills and study towards a professional finance qualification.

 

The successful candidate will ensure that all bank reconciliations, suspense accounts, third party accounts and control accounts are reconciled as required and will ensure that all customer payments are recorded accurately on the relevant agreements

 

Key Duties:

 

  • Ensure daily BACS files are sent
  • Ensure daily Faster Payment file is sent
  • Unwind agreements in Pancredit as required
  • Apply monies (proceeds of sale, Debt Collection Agency receipts, debit card payments, Allpay receipts, cheques) to customer agreements as required
  • Process refund requisition forms
  • Ensure suspense reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations and control account reconciliations are completed daily
  • Ensure bank reconciliations are completed for all group companies as required
  • Ensure suspense accounts and cashbooks are cleared on a daily basis
  • Import weekly supplier pay runs into Barclays.Net for checking
  • Upload ad hoc payments into Barclays.Net as required
  • Complete daily Barclays.Net reporting
  • Process intercompany recharge payments as required
  • Write cheques/process BACS payments to customers in relation to Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) redress payments
  • Post PPI redress entries to customer agreements as required
  • Update and distribute daily reports for the Collections team (bounced Direct Debits, EPDQ payments and dialler reports)
  • Support the Finance team in the preparation of accounts and reporting requirements as instructed by Finance Manager

 

Key Skills and Attributes:

 

  • Recent experience working in a similar role is preferable
  • Knowledge of a Loan Activation process and basic procedures is preferable
  • Good communication skills
  • Consistently meets deadlines
  • Problem solving skills
  • Good knowledge of Excel
